City Thoughts 2

The Atlantic Monthly in it's March issue ran an article entitled, "The Next Slum?". It is well worth reading not only from the perspective of what they may mean for many of us who live in the Suburbs, but also what this trend may mean for the future of the church and its ministry. I'd love to hear back from those who take the time to read the article. Kudo's to Rob Joustra for alerting me to this timely piece.

Hi Larry:

I read the article and was intrigued! I also wish I could live in the city. I do NOT enjoy driving, and truly love going downtown GR. Ron?? Not so much! NY is a bit overwhelming for us when we visit our daughter, but the subways, etc are so easy to access. It is an interesting article especially after your previous blog of wanting to live downtown GR.

How would this change our personal ministry if we lived downtown? The idea of "life-style centers" may attract more diversity, or would we all tend to "stick together" and have a Dutch CRC lifestyle center?

Hmm lots to think about. Thanks for sharing
